Sino-Swiss Economic Forum 2018

Date: 06 Sept 2018

On the occasion of the official visit of Federal Councillor Johann N. Schneider-Ammann – in the company of a mixed economic delegation, SwissCham Beijing, in association with the Embassy of Switzerland in the People’s Republic of China, is delighted to announce the 5th edition of the Sino-Swiss Economic Forum 2018 [SSEF 2018].

The SSEF 2018 will largely focus on free trade by concentrating on more specific topics. More than three years since the enactment of the Free Trade Agreement between Switzerland and China (FTA), trade flows between the two countries have been growing robustly. The number of companies making use of the FTA is increasing, but so do the complaints and the demand for improvements in the execution of the FTA.

The SSEF 2018 builds a platform for high level experts from various disciplines, such as business, economics, politics, architecture, future studies and art. Two panel discussions in the af ternoon on the following topics will focus on the potentials of free trade on specific markets and take a broader look into a future.

Topics

Module I: New retail: how technology is revolutionizing tomorrows supply chain and consumer habits

Under the first topic panelists will discuss the chances and risks of the Chinese market for SME’s. The panel will also bring light to the advantage that specific companies gain by making use of latest technologies in retail.

Module II: Beyond Imagination: life and economies in the Sino-Swiss future

After a quick break the second panel discussion will widen the scope and take a look into the future. The focus will lie on the ways of living in the future cities in China and Switzerland and what new markets will develop. The second part of the SSEF will include speeches on the overall topic of free trade by the President of SwissCham Beijing, the Federal councilor of Switzerland, a Minister of the People’s Republic of China and the Head of Delegation. An exclusive gala dinner will close the event.
