Suez Canal crisis has limited impact on China's foreign trade

Date: 02 Apr 2021

As the Suez Canal is resuming traffic in an orderly manner, China will pay close attention to follow-up development, and will work with others to smooth cross-border logistics to ensure the stability of the global industrial and supply chains, according to Gao Feng, spokesman of China's Ministry of Commerce.

Although the blockage of the Suez Canal has affected shipments of some Chinese enterprises, and has caused fluctuations to a certain extent in related freight rates, its impact on China's foreign trade is sudden, short-term and limited, Gao said on Apr 1.
